A traditional pergola is open slats. It looks great and does almost nothing about rain, and in the Northwest that means eight months a year you can’t really use the space under it. The fixes you find online are fabric canopies, polycarbonate sheets clipped over the slats, or louvered aluminum systems that start well into five figures.
A roofed pergola kit skips all of that. The roof is part of the structure: clear or tinted acrylic panels set in an aluminum frame, so the light still comes through and the water doesn’t. You get the pergola look and a dry patio.
Two roof styles
Classic
The profile most people picture when they search for a roofed pergola: a clean single-slope roof that attaches to the house at the high side and runs out to posts at the low side. Fewer parts, the fastest install, and the lower price of the two.
Cathedral
A peaked roof for a taller, more open feel and a look that matches a gabled house. More headroom under the ridge and a more finished appearance on a larger patio.
Both use the same heavy-duty aluminum beam, the same ACRYLITE® panels, and the same three standard frame colors: black, white and brown.
The roof is ACRYLITE® acrylic, not polycarbonate
Most pergola roof panels sold online are polycarbonate. It’s cheaper, and it shows: polycarbonate yellows and hazes within a few years, and most warranties on it run about ten years for that reason.
Our roof panels are ACRYLITE® architectural acrylic, UV-filtering in every tint. Clear panels carry a 30-year non-yellowing warranty; the other four tints carry a 10-year light-transmission warranty, and the aluminum frame carries its own 10-year warranty.

Built for Northwest weather
Every kit is engineered for the snow and wind loads at your address, not a one-size number printed on a box. Standard rafter spacing is 4 feet on center; for heavy-snow areas or long projections of 12 to 16 feet we move to 2 feet on center. The designer asks for your ZIP code and we look up the loads for the actual site before your exact quote.
The heavy-duty beam is the default here, not an upgrade.
What a roofed pergola kit costs
Classic kits run roughly $40 to $45 per square foot, supply only — materials and delivery, no installation labor. Cathedral kits run roughly $45 to $55 per square foot, because of the ridge beam, the extra rafters and the king posts.
Smaller covers cost more per square foot than larger ones: posts, beams and gutters don’t shrink with the roof. Tinted panels and 2-foot rafter spacing for snow move the number too, and each dimension rounds up to the next 4-foot module.
As an example, a 20' × 12' Classic is approximately $10,300 for the kit, or about $10,800 delivered in the Northwest — approximate, supply only. The 3D designer gives you an approximate price for your exact size, style and colors, and your exact quote follows once we confirm loads and delivery.

Delivery
Kits ship from our shop in Arlington, Washington to all 50 states and all of Canada. Our own trucks cover the Washington and Oregon metros plus Boise and Salt Lake City; everywhere else goes by freight. You can also pick up in Arlington, or use will-call in the Portland area. Typical delivery is 2 to 4 weeks from order.
Install it yourself, or have it installed
Kits arrive cut to size with everything pre-punched and a full set of instructions. Frequently asked questions
Is a roofed pergola the same thing as a patio cover?
Functionally, yes. Pergola usually means an open slatted structure and patio cover means a solid roof. A roofed pergola is the open-frame look with a solid, translucent roof, which is what our kits are. If you searched for either one, this is the product.
Will it be hot underneath?
That depends on the tint. Clear lets 86% of the light through and behaves like a skylight; Heatstop Cool Blue blocks 75% of the heat and is our most popular choice for west-facing patios. Three tints sit in between.
How long does the roof stay clear?
Clear ACRYLITE® panels are warranted against yellowing for 30 years. The four tinted panels carry a 10-year light-transmission warranty.
Is it freestanding or attached?
Most kits attach to the house at one edge, which keeps the price and the part count down. Freestanding kits are available and quoted individually: with no house to brace against, the posts have to be stabilized, and the build method — our heavy-duty posts and gussets, or your own posts with our brackets — changes both the structure and the price. Expect up to 50% more than an attached cover and about 4 weeks lead time.
I already have a pergola. Can you just do the roof?
